What you will do

We are looking for a talented video editor to assemble recorded footage into a finished project that matches the programme’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting and learning.

Ultimately, as a film and video editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story creatively.

Time:

This contract is valid over a period of 4 months (February-May).
Payment is based on deliverables regardless of timing, and deliverables must respect the project timeline.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Film, TV Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

3 – 5 years working in a digital video production environment and/or a video journalism background. Adobe Premiere, and Photoshop experience highly desirable.

What we are looking for

Video Editing Deliverables in order:

  • 1 teaser video (30 seconds)
  • 1 Introduction to makesense Lebanon (2 min average)
  • 1 Introduction to the MOOC programme (2minute)
  • 6 videos of an average (9 minutes each)
  • 1 trailer video (2 min average) ALL including 3 drafts.

Video Editing Requirements:

  • Experience creating short-form videos for platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter.
  • Proven success in creating videos that perform well on YouTube
  • Preference for an experience of creating videos that grow and engage social audiences organically.
  • Able to input subtitles in English (the speaking language will be Arabic)
  • Editing software full options.

Video Editor Responsibilities

  • Assist to the shoot if needed
  • Review the video scripts to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications
  • Review shooting script and raw material to Co-create the outline for each video with the Educational Project Manager
  • Manipulate and editing film pieces (aggregate of a 60-minute film) in a way that is invisible to the audience and respects the
  • Follow the organization’s brand guideline
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  • Input subtitles in English (the speaking language will be Arabic)
  • Create rough and final cuts (total of 3 per video / including 2 reviews)
  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  • Ensure minimal yet significant updates if needed
  • Consult with Educational Project Manager from production to post-production process
  • Receive and implement notes on cuts from each network’s editorial team, senior leadership, and other project stakeholders
  • Work with the social media referent to make sure the teaser video and trailer are sharable and promoted.
  • Produce and edit highly shareable videos in a dynamic and exciting style
  • Must work well independently and with management, have a keen eye for detail to ensure all our assets and deliverables are of the highest quality and a strong interest in Social Media
  • Team player who thrives on collaboration and enjoys a fast-paced environment
  • An open-minded individual with flexible, open operating style, and a natural consultative approach who gains the trust and respect of individuals at all levels

Who is the organization hiring?

makesense is an international NGO with headquarters in Paris and worldwide offices including Lebanon. Makesense is mostly characterized through our active community of citizens and social entrepreneurs who aim to accelerate positive change locally through social entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration. Our team in Lebanon are young, dynamic, and enjoy our fast-paced and continuous learning environment.

THE PROJECT: makesense is launching a programme to complement all its citizen mobilization and training programmes to involve more and more citizens through a free online programme inclusive of all Lebanese and educating on social entrepreneurship.

Requirements to Apply:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, in English and Arabic
  • Basic understanding of what is a MOOC and what is social entrepreneurship
  • Proven work experience as a video editor - please send us 3 to 5 videos of your edited work that show your credentials and highlights your editing skills. All applicants should submit links to videos they have worked on, with an explanation of their role in the production of each video.
